  • How long does it take to tint my car?

Cars are to be dropped off between 9:00 am and 10:00 am. The spring and summer seasons are our busiest seasons and Saturdays are our busiest days of the week year-round. Please call 1-2 day in advance to schedule a weekday appointment and 3-4 days in advance for a Saturday appointment. Same-day appointments are available if we have a cancellation, please call to check.

Please let us know if you plan to wait for your car when you make your appointment. All tinting services require a $50 deposit, which can be left over the phone or in person. If you must cancel your appointment within 12 hours of the scheduled time you forfeit your deposit. Otherwise, if you have to cancel in advance or reschedule, your deposit can be refunded.

Once your deposit is received and you’ve selected a tint shade, we’ll pull your vehicle in within 10 minutes. Most models are completed within 2 hours. Front doors can be completed within 30-45 minutes while you wait.

Vehicles are completed in the order they’re received. If you need your car by the afternoon, please schedule a 9:00 am appointment. Cars that arrive at 9:00 am are typically complete by 4:00 and 5:00 pm.

Our team avoids completing hurried work in order to provide you with the best possible results. If you need more flexibility with your appointment, please consider scheduling your service in the fall or winter.

  • How long does it take to dry and when can I roll down my windows?

The 3M products we use are quick-drying. In the summer, tinting is dry within 24 hours. In the winter, tinting is dry within 3 days.

  • How dark can window tint be in California?

The darkness of a tint is measured by what is referred to as “Visible Light Transmission percentage” or VLT%. In the State of California, this percentage refers to the amount of visible light that is available through the film and the window.

    Tinting requirements are as follows:

    • Windshield: Non-reflective tint is allowed on the top of the windshield down to the AS-1 marker
    • Front Side Window: Must allow more than 70% of light in
    • Back Side Windows: Any darkness can be used
    • Rear Window: Any darkness can be used
  • How much UV protection will I get?

Every film we use blocks 99% of UV light. This provides vehicle occupants with significant protection from the dangers of the sun’s harsh UV rays. It also helps protect them against sunburn, premature aging, and increased risks for serious skin conditions. Crystalline blocks 97% of infrared light rays.

  • Will I lose reception on electric devices?

No, 3M auto window films are non-metallized, which means they won’t interfere with GPS, satellite, radio, or mobile phone reception.

  • How do I clean my windows?

The 3M films that we used can be cleaned using household glass cleaning solutions, including ammonia-based products. We recommend using Windex and a lint-free cloth or towel. Abrasive products which could scratch or damage the film should be avoided.

  • Does the tint go on the inside or the outside of my window?

All tints are installed on the inside of the vehicle windows. Occasionally, you’ll see us prepping the outside of the window. This is because we shrink the rear windshield film.

  • What do you do with the silvering of dot matrix?

The tint should silver evenly around the dot matrix. If it silvers unevenly, we press it down after it has dried completely. This method improves the silvering, but there’s still a chance there might be some. If the back window silvers unevenly in a large band across the top, we’ll cut the tint out and use black vinyl. This incurs an additional $25 fee.

  • What are these chips in my tint?

Something to be mindful of is your seatbelt buckle. Once your tint is installed, try to avoid letting the belt sling over and hit the window as it creates little chips in the tint. This is not covered under the warranty.

  • What is this 3M logo on my window and how do I remove it?

The crew at Tint Masters is meticulous and ensures a clean installation on every car, however, it’s possible that the 3M authenticity logos can be difficult to see while we’re removing them. Sometimes driving the vehicle in different lighting situations allows you to see the “shadow” of the stamps. The logo can quickly and easily be removed by applying rubbing alcohol to a clean soft cloth or paper towel and wiping it until it disappears. You can also stop by the shop to have us remove it for you.
